I know that it’s kind of a late comment, but I still don’t understand how is it possible to compare Azar Nafisi and Irshad Manji, because to me these are different cases.
I also think that it is easy to fall into the common and hidden trap of generalizing. While it is true that politics plays an important role anywhere and everywhere these days, but still as a journalist you need to realize the fact that the more famous and well known an institute, the greater the chances of manipulating become. It really doesn’t matter if it is about education or health, and it is not only in America that this happens. And how is it possible to forget all the valuable work that is being done in these places, and give up on them because opportunists like Manji have found a way to take advantage of an educational system?

درباره‌ی آذر نفيسی نمی‌توانم چيزی بگويم و داوری هم ندارم. اما درباره‌ی ارشاد منجی می‌توان به قوت گفت که شناخت و درک‌اش از جهان اسلام سطحی، ژورناليستی و غوغاگرانه است. نيازی نيست آدم خودش را مسلمان جا بزند و بعد اين‌ چنين چشم از واقعيت‌ها و حقايق عالم اسلام با تمام تکثرش فرو ببندد. پس به همين سياق می‌توان گفت که دانشگاه هم پروژه‌ای سياسی را دنبال می‌کند تا فرهنگی و علمی.

در آمریکا هم مثل ایران یک سری فریاد ها خریدار داره و بورس تحصیلی میاره و مقام و منزلت علمی و من معتقدم که این تاحدودی بر عهده ما است که با نفد و معرفی این آثار خصوصا به زبان انگلیسی و در محیط های دانشگاهی و فرهنگی سهم مثبتی در این قضیه داشته باشیم. در ضمن پیشبینی می شود که بورس های مربوط به ایران در آمریکا بزود ی افزایض پیدا می کند…
